Meditation

Dreams | Meditation | Mind Control

Most kinds of meditations are great for everything from stresses, worries and personal growth. Many of the videos on youtube are amateur to be sure but the content of what is being said and the benefits over shadow the quality of production.

Meditation at its most basic level is simply sitting down in your most comfortable position, with a strait but not tense back, and breathing deeply and consistently. There is no need for chanting, hand positions, smelly candles, incense, mood music, drugs or any other thing. You should meditate how ever you are comfortable by what ever means you like. If I had my preference I would use weed, the videos below and perhaps some incense.

If you want more professional videos, a good meditation resource I’ve discovered is Hemi Sync. Basically its sends different tones to each ear via speakers or stereo headphones, the effect is that the two hemispheres of your brain interpolate the two signals and you ‘hear’ or perceive a third tone that can only be perceived in this way, and to this effect.

Hemi Sync: Intro

OK so you could pay for this, download a short demo (or creatively acquire a copy), or experience the same thing with Binaural Beats & BrainSync.

Wikipedia Definition: Binaural Beats (also Hemi Sync and BrainSync)
The brain produces a phenomenon resulting in low-frequency pulsations in the loudness of a perceived sound when two tones at slightly different frequencies are presented separately, one to each of a subject’s ears, using stereo headphones. A beating tone will be perceived, as if the two tones mixed naturally, out of the brain. The frequency of the tones must be below about 1,000 to 1,500 hertz for the beating to be heard. The difference between the two frequencies must be small (below about 30 Hz) for the effect to occur; otherwise, the two tones will be heard separately and no beat will be perceived.

Interest in binaural beats can be classified into two categories. First, they are of interest to neurophysiologists investigating the sense of hearing. Second (and more controversially), binaural beats reportedly influence the brain in more subtle ways through the entrainment of brainwaves and can be used to produce relaxation and other health benefits such as pain relief. If you know something about music you could create this your self or add it to your music to greatly enhance its mood.

But what exactly are brain waves? Well, your brain is made up of billions of brain cells called neurons, which use electricity to communicate with each other. The combination of millions of neurons sending signals at once produces an enormous amount of electrical activity in the brain, which can be detected using sensitive medical equipment (such as an EEG), measuring electricity levels over areas of the scalp. The combination of electrical activity of the brain is commonly called a Brainwave pattern, because of its cyclic, ‘wave-like’ nature. Our mind regulates its activities by means of electric waves which are registered in the brain, emitting tiny electrochemical impulses of varied frequencies, which can be registered by an electroencephalogram. These brainwaves are known as:

Beta: emitted when we are consciously alert, or we feel agitated, tense, afraid, with frequencies ranging from 13 to 60 pulses per second in the Hertz scale.

Alpha: when we are in a state of physical and mental relaxation, although aware of what is happening around us, its frequency range is around 7 to 13 pulses per second.

Theta: more or less 4 to 7 pulses, it is a state of somnolence with reduced consciousness.

Delta: when there is unconsciousness, deep sleep or catalepsy, emitting between 0.1 and 4 cycles per second.

In general, we are accustomed to using the beta brain rhythm. When we diminish the brain rhythm to alpha, we put ourselves in the ideal condition to learn new information, keep facts, data, perform elaborate tasks, learn languages or analyze complex situations. Studies have proven that you enter the Alpha state when you watch TV. This is why it is very important to guard what you watch, you never know what you will pick up on, consciously or unconsciously. Meditation, relaxation exercises, and activities that enable the sense of calm, also enable this alpha state.

According to neuroscientists, analyzing electroencephalograms of people submitted to tests in order to research the effect of decreasing the brain rhythm, the attentive relaxation or the deep relaxation, produce significant increases in the levels of beta-endorphin, noroepinephrine and dopamine, linked to feelings of enlarged mental clarity and formation of remembrances, and that this effect lasts for hours and even days. Marijuana causes a release of dopamine when ingested or smoked. This state of deep relaxation resupplies your levels of dopamine. It is also an ideal state for synthetic thought and creativity, the proper functions of the right hemisphere. As it is easy for the hemisphere to create images, to visualize, to make associations, to deal with drawings, diagrams and emotions, as well as the use of good-humor and pleasure, learning is better absorbed if these elements are added to the study methods. Below are Binaural Beats for each brain wave state except for beta which would not exactly be relaxing.
(All videos are in stereo.)

Binaural Beat Alpha

Binaural Beat Theta

I couldn’t find Delta for Binaural Beats but these are equivalent and they have all three:

BrainSync Alpha

BrainSync Theta

BrainSync Delta
